Personal Statement
As a child of a mother who competed internationally for Canada and was a varsity University athlete, as well as a father who played professional football in the CFL, I have grown up in a competitive environment. I also have a cousin who plays in the NHL, so I believe I have an athletic edge and perspective on elite sports that perhaps others might not. I was taught from a very young age that sport could offer positive life’s lessons, as well as the opportunity and outlet to channel my energies in a positive way. I was born in the United States and hold dual citizenship to Canada and the USA. My mother worked at a world ranked University co-ordinating the Sport Medicine Clinic and then managed different aspects of the Athletic Department. This gave me access to, and insight into a lot of top level facilities and athletes. The exposure to this has so strongly influenced the person I have become; so much so, that I am actually considering studying medicine in hopes of pursuing a career as a Sport Medicine Doctor so that I may travel with National teams to support their dreams and influence their athletic careers. I will be looking at varied ways in future, to give back to my community and sport, because I have been raised by a single parent who has had to secure financial sponsorship for me to pursue my athletic dreams.
