Personal Statement

Soccer has been the biggest influence in my life for as long as I can remember. Over my many years in the sport, I have developed into a well-rounded and knowledgeable player. My experience has been recognized by coaches who have selected me for the REX program as well as our district and provincial teams. These experiences have added to my soccer tool kit and made me eager to embark on my journey toward the collegiate level.

Currently, I have been selected to be a part of the Aurora FC High Performance Program and will be moving into playing in the Ontario League 1 and U21 Provincial league for 2018 in preparation for the next phase of my soccer career.

I feel I would be an asset to any post-secondary program because I excel not only within athletics but thrive in my academic work as well. Soccer is my passion, however my schooling takes precedent over everything. I am presently on my school's honour roll and I pride myself on being able to balance my academic and athletic performance, participating at high levels in both disciplines. Throughout the school year, I work incredibly hard to achieve a 4.0 GPA by participating in AP courses and excelling in most of my classes.

Along with my dedication to becoming the best soccer player I can be, strong leadership is another cornerstone of my soccer identity. I am not afraid to let my opinion be heard and enjoy helping others succeed. I am interested in a team which is in need of a fearless attacking presence who will help the team achieve its goals.

In terms of my degree, I have interests in both business and legal studies. I am interested in a college experience that offers both a competitive and immersive soccer team dynamic and a strong academic program.

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile and I hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Marissa Castellano (Class of 2019)
