My passion lies in working with children diagnosed with Autism and other behavioral disorders and I plan to focus on center-based Applied Behavior Analysis as my future career. I am very interested in this field and know that I will succeed based on my internships and summer volunteer opportunities working in the field. I plan to attend college and major in Psychology. This is the first step toward my future goal of getting my Masters Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and studying to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
I am slightly introverted around new people, but the best way I have found to release stress and feel most secure is on the soccer field. I have played with many teams, girls, boys and coaches over the years and always find a way to help the team. I can jump in and figure out the team dynamics which allows me to be where I need to be at the right time. During games, I never give up or slow down and am always willing to give 100% on the field.
During my freshman and sophomore years, my school was virtual, and I struggled to stay focused on the screen as I prefer to spend my time learning interactively. Once I returned to the classroom, my GPA increased and I had all A's in my classes. I enjoy spending time with my teachers and often leave study halls to go and spend time with my mentors, the Special Education teachers. I'm not the most studious girl but when I'm in a traditional classroom i get good grades and can get the job done.
My coaches say that I am an asset and they like to work with me because I am coachable and flexible. During my high school seasons, I often play many different positions during one game, as can play where I am needed. I can score goals but I am most valuable at preventing them from being scored on my team. I'm an aggressive player and will use my body to block the passage of the ball as well as other players. I follow instructions, run plays, and encourage my teammates.
