I started playing soccer at the age of 4, when my mother met and married my step-father. First Colony Soccer Club was my first club before moving to Quest Youth Soccer. At the age of 10, I started playing with Challenge Soccer Club as a right defender. Through the years, I've gained knowledge about the entire field by moving around the field playing outside mid, forward, left defense and goalkeeper. With Challenge, my most recent positions have been right midfield and left defense. Last season, I filled in for an injured teammate at the goalkeeper position and liked it. I've been sharing time at the goalkeeper position as well as playing the field. For Deer Park High School, I am the Varsity goalie as a sophomore. Through 8 district games, I've given up two goals and the team has a perfect winning record.
My open-mindedness is a strength. I am a team player and have showed that through the years in my willingness to learn new positions and work to be the best. Through the years I've loved playing the field. But when the opportunity to play goalie came about, I've began training with the Challenge keeper trainers every week. I know there is more to learn and improvement will come, so I'm doing my best to latch onto every lesson given.
Academically, I don't feel like school comes as easily to me as others. I do have to work hard. A look at my record will show that I'm willing to put in the work and time to be a top-notch student. I am taking flex classes in the mornings and PAP courses to improve my ability to study and get the grades required to be successful.
My family is diverse. With a full sister on Youth Exchange out of the country, a bother in several sports and other step and half siblings, I've learned to cope with a busy schedule. I understand that success takes dedication, work, focus and help.
I believe that I'm a better candidate for college soccer than most because of my experience and ability to be coachable.
