Personal Statement
My name is Erin York. I attend St. Agnes Academy (TAPPS D1) in Houston, Texas. I joined the Varsity soccer team my freshman year as a goalkeeper and earned the district honorable mention my sophomore year. During my freshman year at St. Agnes, we won the state championship title – the first time in the school’s history. In my sophomore year, we were regional champions and made it to the state finals. I have had clean sheets for both seasons for my league games. Soccer has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old when I played at the YMCA with my two brothers. I started playing as a goalkeeper when I was in 3rd grade for my elementary school because I looked up to my older brother who was a keeper for our school’s varsity team. I then joined Albion Hurricanes Club Soccer as a dedicated keeper in the 4th grade. I am now playing for the Albion Hurricanes 05/04 ECRL 2 team. As my team's Co-Captain, I am a strong leader on and off the pitch, which is evident in my authoritative voice while in goal, correctly positioning my teammates for the best outcomes, providing insights into plays and players, and encouraging my teammates. Throughout my soccer career, my teammates have voted me MVP for tournaments and an entire season, and I have been Captain for both my school and club teams. I am a determined, perseverant, and tough soccer player and teammate and I am entirely dedicated to the sport and improving my skills. I see practice as a way to strengthen my abilities in games and I can implement what I learn in practice to perform and strategize better in games. I am committed to attending every game and training and performing to my fullest potential. I enjoy pushing myself every day even if that means training more than 3 hours a day. My goal is to play soccer in college and continue to grow and achieve.
