Personal Statement

My name is Araceli Patterson, and I am a junior at Hendrickson High School, where I have had the privilege of being a varsity starter on the girl's soccer team since my freshman year. Playing primarily as a center-back, I have developed a strong defensive skill set, but my versatility allows me to contribute as an outside back, holding midfielder, or even a winger when needed. This adaptability not only showcases my commitment to the team but also my willingness to step up in various roles for the benefit of our collective success.

As a captain of my club team, FIERCE United NL Frontier 06, I am proud to be the one of the youngest players on the team. This role has taught me the importance of leadership, resilience, and the ability to inspire my teammates, even in challenging situations. The experience has helped me grow both on and off the field, as I strive to set a positive example for those around me.

This past season was been particularly rewarding, leading my high school team to a regional championship and the state semi-finals. Achieving this success was not just about the victories; it was about the strong bonds I formed with my teammates. The friendships we've built through our shared experiences on and off the pitch are some of my most cherished relationships, and they fuel my passion for the game.

Throughout the year, my dedication and performance have not gone unnoticed. I was honored to be named to the 1st team all-district, recognized as academic all-district, and voted co-defensive MVP by my teammates. These accolades reflect my hard work, positive attitude, leadership qualities, self-motivation, and coachability. I am always striving to improve and learn, and I believe that these attributes make me a valuable addition to any collegiate soccer program.

Soccer has been an integral part of my life since I was six years old, and I am eager to continue my journey as a student-athlete in college. I am committed to pursuing excellence in both my athletic and academic endeavors, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to a collegiate soccer team. I believe that my experiences, determination, and passion for the game will make me a strong asset to your program.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
