Personal Statement

My father put me into soccer when I was seven years old. I've always had a natural talent in scoring goals. I played a handful of years in AYSO before I tried out for my high school team. I didn't make it my freshman year. My coach said, "if I could take one more freshman, it would have been you." At the time, my area in Clearfield, Utah had a rule about how many freshman you can have on a team. She also advised me to join a club team, and I do so, Wasatch SC is the club I currently play for. I played high school soccer sophomore year, I got injured with a concussion. Junior year, the coach didn't select me due to my past injuries. (I sprained my ankle a month before try-outs.) I went to a camp at the University of Utah the summer going into my senior year and my high school coach hardly played me, and it didn't look favorable to make the team.

I would like to go to college and obtain a medical degree. hopefully in Pathology or anything in criminal justice. I was the girl in the science classes that would volunteer to perform dissections. I have always wanted to be a "doctor" ever since I could remember. I also did JROTC in high school, and I would love to be a part of ROTC and be an officer in the U.S. Armed Forces. But playing soccer at the college level would be such an amazing experience.

I believe I would make a great candidate for your team because I am a utility player. I can play center back, foward, and mid field. I have been playing club soccer for 4 years now, and have not had a season that I haven't scored. I have received the Golden Boot twice now for my club team. Recently, my coach has been placing me as a center defenseman. I assume I play the position well because he keeps putting me back there. At my last tournament, he played me midfield, attacking and defensive. Though we did not do very well at the tournament, having a brand new team, with new players, and not a lot of practice together, I believe we played rather well. The first game was a blow-out but we recovered and had two very good defensive games.

Though I have never been appointed team captain, I believe I make a great leader on the field. I enjoy using my voice, especially on the field. I am constantly talking, making sure the team is working as one, always trying to advice my fellow team mates. I also try to keep the energy up as much as I can with the power of speech. I know after a long game, you get tired. But, I feel the right motivation can make you play the whole game through.
