Dear Coach,
I use my voice responsibly and plan to use it ultimately as a News Anchor! Intended major: Communication, journalism and media. I'm eager and preparing to compete as a goalkeeper at the collegiate level. My favorite class is AP Research; current project is how preferred music and non-preferred music affects an athlete's performance. I lock in before games with my music and by watching great saves!
I am committed to goalkeeping and school. I'm on Ryzer's elite athlete leadership mindset board for these traits: Competitiveness, composure, confidence, motivational drive, growth mindset, mental toughness, adaptability and decisiveness.
My strengths as a WA EPD, ECNL-RL, Varsity & Surf GK include using both feet with smooth footwork and striking balls over distance, playing tactically out of the back and playing off the line while keeping possession under pressure,1v1 timing, being fearless, my energy and a strong game voice. To help my team score, I know when to switch the ball and speed of play; scanning wide and long for pressure, space and options. Check out my highlights of my team scoring in 30 seconds off of my ball placement. I also recorded my 1st GK assist last season.
This season, I had 2 double saves. One, in a game and the other at practice. You can view my first split save on my Instagram. I've had three! I'm working with a trainer on my explosiveness doing seated box jumps, and my speed doing timed sprints. Overall, I try to be the fastest in reaction speed drills at GK practices and thrive on PK shootout drills.
I started playing soccer as a forward. I played the field wherever needed for my Surf teams--when not in goal. This helped me develop my touch and pressure on-ball confidence. I know that I haven't peaked as a GK as I keep growing. So, it's important for me to play for a college team with a very strong GK program, as I want to keep developing to make amazing saves and reach my potential.
I have been told that I get my natural hand-eye coordination, reaction speed and athleticism from my dad. He was a semi-pro slow pitch softball player. Additionally, my mom played tennis and ran track in college, so she has taught me the value of reviewing film, visualization, positive affirmations and a college education. I enjoy a coach with a good sense of humor. I am confident that I have the natural talent, attitude, determination and character to succeed as a student-athlete in college!
COLLEGE COACH FEEDBACK:
I was told by two D1 coaches and a community college coach that they like my ability to distribute and play out of the back, with a great first touch. The community college coach told me that l have good GK technique--which is a huge compliment, as I work on this continually. A D1 coach commented that I kick bangers. Another D1 coach told me not to throw the ball so hard and high. I appreciated his feedback to improve. Several coaches have commented that they love my communication. I was told by a D2 coach that saw me play with a sprained knee, that I play from my heart. I was told by a D1 coach that she thought that I am very coachable, because of my athleticism and enthusiasm which she said makes me enjoyable to coach. She also added that my bravery allows me to cover a lot of the goal quickly.
I appreciate all of the great feedback above, and I want you to know that I don't take these comments for granted, or come from entitlement. I work very hard for myself and my team, because I love what I do and want to excel and WIN!
