Personal Statement
I am a 5'4" defender with an extensive background playing goalkeeper. Having the goalkeeper background has not only enhanced my field knowledge but it has allowed me the opportunity to maintain control of the field and help my team find success through guidance. I have played on the varsity team for Evergreen High School in Vancouver, WA since my Freshman year. I have been captain the last two years and hope to see this continue through my Senior year in 2020.
I started playing soccer in 2005, when I was 3 years old. In 2012, my team and I took 1st in the Oregon Premier League. In 2013, my team and I also came in 1st in the Portland Metro League. I was a varsity starter my freshman year as a goalie. Then, as a sophomore I was varsity starter as center back, as well as team captain. Currently, as a junior, I am captain of our varsity squad and holding the starting center back position.
I would like to focus my education around social work and law, at this point I am leaning towards the pediatric field. My current GPA is 3.9 and I attend high school part time as I also attend Clark College part time for the Running Start program. I plan to graduate high school with my Associate's Degree.
In the past three years I have worked with children by helping run soccer camps and assist with goalie training. In high school I have taken child psychology classes where I worked directly with preschool and elementary children and successfully achieved the STARS certificate, which means that I am certified to work with children.
I know I have a long road ahead of me, but as long as I keep playing smart, studying smart, and remember to having fun somewhere in between....it will all be worth it!
