My name is Kailyn Knudson and I am a 2022 high school graduate. I currently go to Hartford Union High School (HUHS) in Hartford, Wisconsin. HUHS has a current enrollment of 1450 total students, with 332 students in my grade.
I show my character through adaptability, honesty, hard-work, dedication, and inclusion. These traits exemplify my goals.
I have moved throughout the United States quite a bit for my father’s work. This has provided me with a lot of unique cultural perspectives and has heightened my ability to adapt and flex to new situations. I was born north of Atlanta in Flowery Branch, GA. From there, I have moved 7 times: 1) Ankeny Iowa, 2) Wichita Kansas, 3) Memphis Tennessee, 4) Wichita Kansas, 5) Cedar Falls Iowa, 6) Des Moines Iowa, 7) Rubicon Wisconsin. This has helped shape me as a person and keeps me open to all colleges no matter the location.
I believe that my attitude of integrity and honesty will build a foundation of trust with any team that I am part of. With trust, I know that we are stronger as a team. I also believe that a safe environment will engage others to bring their “whole” self to the conversation. In my experience, the more comfortable the situation, the more willing people are to take risks.
I am highly dedicated and have a great work ethic. I currently manage three varsity sports (soccer, basketball, volleyball), 2 club teams (soccer, basketball), 1 state team (Wisconsin Soccer ODP), and most importantly, do all this while maintaining a 3.89 GPA. I have a lot self-drive, I am highly competitive, and I expect a lot of myself.
I have been taught from a young age to always follow my passion. I like the idea that if you do this, you will never work a day in your life. My mother is a teacher and my father an engineer. I am not passionate about either of these paths and my parents fully support that. My ambition is to become a medical surgeon. I am open to different paths within the medical field, but as of right now, I am targeting orthopedic surgery. I have always had a passion for science, math, health, medicine, and helping others. I feel that these all align well with my professional desires and will provide the challenge I seek in life.
Specifically, to soccer, I love the sport. I’ve played it since I was 10 years old and don’t want that to end when I graduate high school. The sport has taught me a lot about teamwork, dedication, development, and how to handle both winning and losing. It has challenged me a great deal and I have developed into a strong, team-oriented outside midfielder. I have made life-long friendships through soccer and plan to have that continue through college.
