Personal Statement

I am Hannah Henry, an outside midfielder for the Neenah High School varsity soccer team and Neenah Soccer Club. In 2022, I was a freshman varsity player and I am a captain for Neenah Soccer Club 2004 U19 Girls.  I will greatly contribute to your team with my dynamic runs behind the back line and out wide to challenge defenders. I thrive in 1v1 situations by choosing the best angle to attack and exploit into open space, and by following through with a cross pinpointing the space, or player on the run. Along with my strong performance on the field, I strive to be a leader who uplifts and pushes my teammates to be their best through words of praise and feedback.  Soccer is a team sport and I recognize the responsibility I have to play my part for us to be successful: I lead with enthusiasm and purpose, play with determination and maximum effort, as well as having mental toughness to bounce back from mistakes.

I have a tremendous work ethic that I demonstrate through numerous hours of individual training, along with group training sessions at Wisconsin Academy of Sports and Purdy Performance. My work ethic flows into my play which is shown by making defensive runs to cover or to stop a counterattack, providing pressure on the opposing back line or players near me with the ball, creating combination plays with teammates, and making runs time and time again.

Academics are important for me to achieve success on the soccer field, but also to prepare for my future, building necessary skills for a successful life. I have taken numerous advanced classes stretching across all subjects, and have maintained a 4.0 GPA all through middle and high school. I am taking CAPP and AP level courses as well. I prioritize academics, and so am not only looking for a school that has a soccer program for me, but has degrees for my desired field of study: medicine.

My goal is to play collegiate soccer, because I want to continue to challenge myself and reach my maximum potential in a sport that brings me utmost joy. I want to find a soccer program that pushes me to achieve this, while also providing a team atmosphere of community and friendship, promoting strong morals and ethics, and has a fierce desire to win like me.
