Hi! My name is Westiara Mullens, but I prefer to go by Tia. I’ve been playing soccer for about 8 years and have played every position except goalie. I will be a 2024 graduate and currently play center back for both my high school (varsity starter as a freshman and sophomore at Oak Creek High School) and club team (Polonia SC) and also played CB on the ODP state team for WI this past year. Over the past few years, I’ve found that I thrive on playing defense and where I feel most at home on the field. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to stay calm in high pressure situations. In addition to having speed and quickness, I also have great vision on the field, am physical and able to distribute the ball.
One reason I like playing soccer is that it is very team oriented. I’m able to use my individual skills to help others get better which helps make our overall team better. I am very coachable, open and humble when given honest feedback and I apply that feedback to my development. I feel like there is still a lot I can learn and want to continue to improve my playing skills. By playing soccer, I have learned how to push my body and my mental capabilities. I have learned how to stay in shape and how rewarding that can be. I show that I am a team player by giving positive feedback and energy to promote team unity.
In addition to playing soccer, I’ve played point guard in basketball and this previous year narrowed my high school sports down to focus on soccer and track. I’m also a two year starter on my track team with my focus being on relays. Academics are also very important to me and I have been on the high honor roll my first two years of high school. I’ve found that playing sports has helped me learn time management, how to push myself and the opportunity to develop new friendships. As of right now, I am leaning towards studying psychology in college and working towards being a child psychologist.
Please reach out to me if you think I would be a good fit on your team!
