Personal Statement
I work hard and I am unflappable. I began running in 9th grade as a distance runner, joining Shorewood's cross country team after years of playing soccer. I still play soccer for my school and for my club. However, I now love running too and appreciate the grit that is needed going into each meet and enjoy the the team camaraderie and working toward a common goal. This past spring was my first season on the track team and then, just as it was getting started, the season was canceled due to the pandemic. I was able to get in one pre-season meet at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Developmental Meet and ran good times in the mile and 800 with little preparation and no training. In April, I lost my grandmother to COVID-19 after she fought almost a month to live in the ICU at Mount Sinai in Manhattan. She was a strong, athletic, and adventurous person and I work every day to carry her legacy forward. I hope to run track this spring. In the meantime, I love cross country and I look forward to the contributions I can make in track this spring in high school and at college in 2022.
