Personal Statement

My name is Lauren Porter  and I am a competitive swimmer.

Starting from the age of 5, I have now been swimming for more than ten years, including development/technique training with the University of Calgary Swim Club (4 years) and performance training with Killarney Swim Club (7 years).

As a highly coachable swimmer and strong teammate with leadership skills, I believe that my work ethic, technique and commitment will allow me to succeed at the collegiate level. In recent years, I have been ranked Top 10 and Top 5 nationally (2019-2022 seasons) for 50, 100, and 200-meter Breaststroke. I have big dreams to swim internationally and compete at global competitions as well as to continue my swimming career throughout university.

Academically, I am a very strong student with grades in the 90s in all core subjects and electives. I am a highly disciplined, hard working student and am interested in pursuing an education and career in Engineering or another STEM related field.

I strive to achieve my goals with a desire to learn and grow through my sport. My goal is to swim for an NCAA D1 or D2 program to further advance my long term swimming potential.

Thank you for your consideration and for reviewing my NCSA profile.
