Personal Statement
I love swimming and I can’t imagine doing any other sport. I want to compete for as long as I can. I love learning and look forward to using this talent to help me achieve my athletic and academic dreams. I love the grind of early mornings and the “good pain”. Even though my experience hasn’t been the most conventional I think it has made me a better, and more grateful athlete and student.
Currently, I train with the Kelowna Aquajets Swim Club in Kelowna BC, Canada. My training regiment include at least 8 sessions in the pool per week, plus 2-3 hours of dry land training in a local gym. During the peak of Covid in my region my club shut down for five months. My father took me to the local lake and I would swim while he Kayaked beside me every morning. While I love working with and being on a team, I will put in the work on my own in order to keep moving forward towards my goals. As my Dad says, (I think he learned this from Zig Ziglar) "It's not what happens to you in life , it's how you respond to what happens to you that makes you a winner"
Academically, I would like to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology as I move towards a career in fitness, and possibly sports management and coaching.
My family's belief in my abilities, and work ethic, along with my belief in God and His plan for my life has inspired me to work all the harder. While I have been a bit of a late bloomer, and my family experienced some financial setbacks out of our control, I have continued to make progress towards my long term goal of being a varsity swimmer. Hopefully someday, with hard work, good life choices, and some good coaching I might even get to compete at the national level in my home country of Canada.
Thanks for taking the time read a little bit about me.
God Bless,
