Personal Statement
Competitive swimming has been a part of my life ever since I was just 5 years old. Over the years it has shaped me as person by teaching me values such as hard work, goal setting, and independence. With swimming I am constantly learning and growing. I truly get the most out of the sport by being a leader to my team. I have to a be role model and positive influence to other younger swimmers. Learning how my actions can affect others is something important I have learned. This role has also encouraged me to become a leader in my school as well. While swimming is very important to me, school always comes first. I transfer my hard working skills from the pool to the classroom by maintaining a 4.2 GPA. This school year I am working towards breaking the BIIF high school record for the 50 free. My ultimate goal is to swim in college. It's something I have always wanted to do and it's something I see myself doing in the future. I am ready to take my swimming to the next level and compete with other collegiate swimmers. Along with wanting to become a college swimmer, a career I am aspiring towards is an environmental lawyer. I hope to attend a college that will best prepare me for that career.
