I have been swimming since I could walk. I joined the summer league swim team when I was 5 years old and continued in the fall with the local ymca and usa year round club team. I can't remember when swimming wasn't a part of my life. Swimming has taught me many life lessons. I have learned how to handle defeat, battle back from injuries, and cope with coaching and team changes. Through swimming I have developed a strong work ethic, self discipline, leadership, time management and communication skills. I have learned the true meaning of commitment and dedication. I drive an hour each way to practice 5-6 days a week while juggling a strenuous school and work schedule.
Academically, I have maintained a 4.0GPA with mostly honors classes and while also working 10 hours a week. I love to volunteer through my church and community when I can.
I was elected team captain because of my work ethic and encouraging nature. My swim team has always been my family.
My dream has always been to swim in college. I'm really looking forward to becoming part of a college swim team/family. I feel like my best years are ahead of me. I'm looking for a team and coach that will challenge and support me in and out of the pool. Academics are very important to me. I am currently undecided on my major but am leaning towards English/history major with the plan of either teaching or pre-law. I hope you will give me the opportunity to continue my love and passion for swimming at your university. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile.
