Personal Statement
My name is Madalyn Booker and I am passionate about swimming. I am interested in continuing my swimming career in college. I have been on the Sullivan Blue Dolphins Swim Team for the past 11 years. Being part of this team has been an awesome learning and growing experience both in and out of the water. I am a highly motivated, focused and determined student athlete. Breaststroke is my favorite stroke and the one that I tend to excel at, but I also enjoy the fly and IMs. When it comes to my career path, I am leaning towards Occupational Therapy or Exercise Science/Fitness. My parents own two gyms and I have grown up loving fitness and using it as a tool to help me stay healthy as well as to excel in sports. In addition to swim, I also love track and made it to state in the 400 M dash last year (May 2021). Not only have I had success with sports, I am also strong academically and have earned a 4.0 GPA with a 5th out of 78 class ranking. Over the years, I have developed excellent study skills and have put a lot of work into my academic success. I am confident that the strong foundation and healthy patterns that I have developed will continue into my college career and beyond. Swim is a sport that I love and I am not yet ready to walk away from it. I am still shaving off seconds and I have set more goals for myself that I am determined to achieve. I love the uplifting, supportive team atmosphere and environment that being on a swim team provides. I would bring a hard-working, positive, encouraging attitude to any team. I believe that I would be an asset to your swim team and look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
