50 back LONG COURSEHi! My name is Sofia Ristancev. My passion for swimming began at a young age of 8 and started competing at the age of 9, and have been even since! I was born in Mississauga, Ontario, but then my family and I moved to Windsor when I was 4 years old. Once I started swimming, I really fell in love with the sport and told my parents I wanted to keep going. I swim with the Windsor Aquatic Club.
Throughout my swimming journey so far, it has taught me many life long skills. Like hard work, dedication and determination. I am always looking forward to the time I have in the pool with my teammates and coaches. I listen to every little detail that my coaches have to tell me and try to preform them at the best of my ability before any swim meets. My family is a big reason why I am still doing this sport. They give me unconditional support and love while training and racing. I give a big thanks to my coaches and family. I have been recognized with Most Improved Swimmer, Swimmer of The Month, and Most Valuable Player. My favorite and best events are the 100 and 50 meter Backstroke. I swim 7 times a week, which very from an hour and a half to two hours, also consisting of 2 morning practices and dry land 3 days a week consisting of conditioning, and strength power. Academically, I work hard for my 85% average and higher, which has gotten me to receive Honor Roll Student. At school, I also like to volunteer and help out with a bunch of school activities.
Swimming is basically my life, and I love it!!!! I hope that some day I can achieve that little girls dreams who started swimming just for fun. My goal is to continue swimming in a University level and one day represent Canada on the World Stage. As a student-athlete, swimming and school will continue to be my main priorities moving on into the next chapter and I am very excited to see what my future holds.
Thank you
