Hello, my name is Abril Sukey. I´m a student of the last year of high schooll. I was born in San Diego CA., but I have lived in Tijuana Mexico all my life. I live with my mother, she is a single parent and she has always supported and motivated me to get ahead. I am a high performance athlete since 2013. Since 2013 I had the opportunity to participate in national meets, always with excellent results, and I was selected national junior (to MEX) for 3 consecutive years to participate in international events. and last April I qualified for the World Junior Swimming Championship 2022. This achievement has filled me with motivation on my way to be recruited by a university.
Since I was child I have learned to combine academic life with long hours of training. Even recently, my mother and I made the difficult decision to change high school because where I was they did not support my sport and did not combine school and training schedules.
Swimming has become a fundamental part of my life. This sport has given me great satisfaction and the opportunity to create bonds of friendship with many people. I love the environment that is created in this sport. In addition, I have been able to visit new cities. I have been fortunate to have excellent coaches who believe in me and have helped and motivated me to achieve my goals.
My next academic goal is to be part of a college swim team, I am very excited about that. I trust I can achieve it since I consider myself a responsible, competitive athlete who loves to challenge herself and fight for her aim. I want swimming to continue to be a part of my life.
My specialties are breaststroke and Individual Madley. I am excited for a university future where I can combine with a high sports level that allows me to set myself new personal and team challenges.
