My name is Lily Mott. I am a second semester junior from Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport, Maine, on track to graduate in June of 2024.
I have been swimming for as long as I can remember. My dad swam competitively at the University of Michigan before transferring to swim at Kenyon College, so naturally he put me in the water as soon as he could. I’ve been swimming with the Penbay Sailfish, my local club team, since I was six years old and I am also on my high school swim team and USA Swimming. I know what it takes not only strive to beat my best times, but more importantly to be a good teammate. My highlight each year is not my times but being part of a team.
Academically, I am an A with a GPA of 99.73 (as of end of sophomore year) taking honors and AP classes. I recently returned from a semester at The Island School in the Bahamas, where I took courses in ecology, applied scientific research, mathematics, art, literature, and histories while swimming daily in the ocean. I have not yet taken the SAT but plan to this Spring. I am also an avid dancer and am involved in high school clubs. I am thinking about pursuing environmental studies in college.
I would like to take this opportunity to highlight some of my accomplishments in my swimming career thus far. Last year, I qualified for the YOTA Capital Classic Meet in Carey, NC and swam in 9 events. For the past three years, my high school girls swim team has won the Class A KVAC Championship; we just won this past weekend! Last year, my varsity high school team also won the Class A Girls State Championships. I scored the most points for our team at that meet and swam a 28.1 50 Yard Backstroke for our Medley Relay. Some of my championship times last year were:
1:02 100 Yard Backstroke
1:04 100 Yard Butterfly
1:15 100 Yard Breastroke
0:58 100 Yard Freestyle
Thank you so much for your consideration. I am truly excited about the possibility of swimming in college.
