Cody Evans '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Cody Evans and I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada aka Winterpeg and no, I do not live in an igloo! I enjoy taking pictures, listening to music, spending time at my cabin, being with friends and of course, swimming.

I have been swimming competitively with my club team, the Manitoba Marlins, since the age of nine. I am a mid distance freestyler, but I swim all the freestyle events. I have loved swimming ever since I started my first swimming lesson at six months old. I love the feeling of being in the water and, no matter how bad a day I am having I always know that when I jump in the water for practice it will make me feel instantly better. Swimming has helped me to develop the work ethic, and leadership skills that will help me to be successful in life.

I go to Vincent Massey Collegiate and I am in the French immersion program.  I take most of my classes in French. I enrolled in the French immersion program in Grade 7 and have enjoyed the challenge of learning a new language, while maintaining the honours distinction (an above 80% average).  I feel that being bilingual will enhance my life and expand future career opportunities that would not otherwise be available to me.

During my university experience my goal is to get an education, while swimming for a strong and highly competitive swim team. I would really like to continue to be challenged in the pool during sets and meets throughout my time away at university. I am interested in studying the arts (design, photography) however my major hasn`t quite been determined yet.
