My name is Laila Webb, and I am a Freestyle Sprinter in the class of 2021. If you’re reading this, thank you for your interest in me. I currently attend Saint Vincent Pallotti in Laurel, MD. The summer leading into my junior year of high school was an eventful one. I completed a month-long summer program at the University of Vermont; half on-campus, half self study on-line. I took a Journalism with Photography and Words class and had an amazing time being there. Immediately following this program, I wrapped up the 2019 LC season at Eastern Zones Senior Championships where I finished 10th overall in the 50M Freestyle with a personal best (PB) time of 27.46. I also set a couple of other PB times in other events too. Thus far, during my junior year of high school, I have attended numerous invitational meets. Most recently I swam at the 56th Annual Washington Metropolitan Interscholastic Swimming & Diving Championships. I placed 5th in the 50 free dropping my lifetime personal best to 23.99 and finished 11th in the 100 free with a 52.6.
I have always loved swimming and it has been my main sport since I was five years old. I currently swim for both Machine Aquatics Swim Club and my high school varsity swim team. Following my 2019/20 high school season at Pallotti, I was named team MVP and Prince George’s County Swimmer of the Year. I was a member of the 2018/19 IAAM C Conference Championship team. I was also named in the All-Conference Team in 2017/18 and 2018/19 as well as being team co-MVP in 2018/19. Academically, I earned Honor Roll 2017-2018, High Honors 2018/19 and 2019/20 and I currently have a 3.5 GPA. I am very interested in taking my swimming career further and seeing how far I can progress. I believe that, with the help of the right school, program and coaching, I could do great things with both my athletic and academic careers.
