To whichever coach it may concern,
My name is Genesis Gonzalez and I'm going into my senior year of high school at Cambridge Rindge and Latin. I've never had a defined plan of my swimming journey, but as of the summer entering my senior year I've realized how detrimental swimming has been on my academic success. To have something that's been a constant in my life since I was a child has influenced my perseverance, resilience, and dedication towards many other areas of my life. It has been challenging participating in a sport where the lack of representation is very prominent, but I've learned to overcome those racial barriers and to let my talent prove my worth. Although I've never had the financial means to be a part of a club team, I've trained on my own to build my way up to championships, sectional meets, and states where I set a record for my school. I may not be the fastest swimmer on the team, but I always bring my 100% when I'm in the pool, willing to give it my all if it means I can accomplish bigger things.
