As a child, my grandparents had a pool and from the day I could get into that pool I never wanted to leave it. So my parents enrolled me in swim lessons at the age of 5. The swim lessons just encouraged my love for the water even more. During those swim lessons; my instructor encouraged my parents to sign me up with a competitive swim team.
Over the next nine years, I would progress from an age group team to a USA year round swim program starting with Grand Rapids Novi Sad Aquatics (GRNSA) and now with East Grand Rapids Aquatics.
This year high school swimming has started for me and I love everything about it. My swim team has become a second family to me and has pushed me to grow and become a stronger person and swimmer. With their encouragement, I have decided that I want to purse a college swimming career. I feel that with continued hard work I can achieve any goal that I set for myself (athletically and/or academically).
My high school swim team was very successful this year. We won our conference this year! This year personally, I went a personal best in all of my events. I was then invited to the Second Chance meet in Holland, MI with my team and it was at this meet I completed one of my goals. I went under a minute in my 100 free.
I am looking forward to the future seasons of high school swimming and the challenges that lay ahead while keeping an eye on continuing my swimming career in college.
