Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Sophia Moore and I have been swimming for ten years. I feel that swimming has taught me what it seems to teach most student-athletes: how to work well with others, hard work, dedication, and time management. While these are all positive outcomes, I have found one of the most important aspects of my swimming career has been being given the opportunity to work with such a diverse group of swimmers. Not only have I trained in the same environment with a variety of different personalities, but also swimmers with different levels of passion for the sport. This aspect of my career helped me make a hard decision. Just over a year ago, I decided to switch club teams. As hard as it was leaving my swim family that I had been with my whole life, I am so grateful I made the decision to change teams. Being on my new team (Great Lakes Tritons) has completely changed swimming for me. I have been given the opportunity to train with swimmers who are much faster than me but have the same love that I carry for this sport. Training with these high-level athletes has pushed me harder than ever which has resulted  in some great time drops. The leap I made over a year ago has made me even more excited to see what will come in my collegiate future. I can't wait to face more challenges, drop more time, and expand my swim family even more.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
