I know my times aren't the best in my events. However, I am highly committed this year and am working to increase my fitness. Over my high school career, I have worked to put on muscle, after struggling with disordered eating patterns. Currently, I work approx. 20 hrs a week (during the school year) at McDonald's. During the Summer, I work as a lifeguard and as a swim instructor for young children. This many goes towards my future as well as paying for my swim club and school trips.
My Freshman, and Sophomore year, I participated in Varsity Girls Swim, Varsity Girls Winter Track (not competing), and Varsity Girls Spring Track, running in distance events. During freshmen year I focused on the 1500m racewalk, under the advice of my coaches. Personally, my track coach has committed suicide and following this, the team had a number of issues. I left the track team following the Winter season due to this, as well as being recommended by my doctor. During my Junior year, I participated in Varsity Girls Swim, as well as trying out Varsity Badminton. Both these experiences, as well as being a part of the QNS swim club, improved my relationship with athletics.
I understand my times are not the most competitive, however I am dedicated to bettering myself and am not afraid of hard work. I aspire to work as a nurse as well as being a part of a ROTC program whilst in college. Swimming in college is a strong desire of mine and I will work to fulfill this.
