I started swimming because my older sister swam, but I kept swimming because I loved it. Swimming has taught me many valuable lessons and skills that I have been able to apply to my daily life such as discipline, time management, the rewards of success, and the disappointment of failure.
I have enjoyed swimming on both my high school and club swim teams. I started swimming on my high school varsity swim team in eighth grade. I have received a section one athletics all- league award each of my years on the high school team. In 2015, my high school medley relay, in which I swam backstroke, qualified for the New York State Championships. In 2016, I qualified for New York State Championships in the 100 yard backstroke where I qualified for finals. My biggest achievement so far with my club team, Gael Aquatic Club, was qualifying for Speedo Sectionals in the 100 yard backstroke.
The biggest reward I am receiving from swimming at the moment is embracing positivity to improve my performance. My coach has taught me this valuable thought process that I have applied to my everyday life. My plan is to continue to pursue academic and athletic excellence.
One of the most enjoyable parts of swimming for me is being part of a team. I believe I can be an asset to any team because of my work-ethic, supportive attitude, and my commitment to my team’s success
