I have always loved swimming and started competing in the Chapel Hill Summer Swim League in the 6 and under age group. After my 7-8 relay came in first place in the Summer Swim League Champs, I decided to pursue year-round swimming at the YMCA in Chapel Hill. I was also a gymnast at that time and after two years of year-round swimming with the Y, I left to compete in gymnastics.
However, the desire to return to swimming won and I joined the NCAC year-round team in August of 2021 and have enjoyed the high level of coaching, the competition and the friendships I have made. This year I was honored to represent my high school team by swimming the 100 Breaststroke in the NCHSAA 3A State Championship Finals.
Academically, I wish to pursue Engineering and have been invited to represent Carrboro High School for 9 days at the National Student Leadership Conference, hosted by Johns Hopkins University, and will be focusing on Aerospace Engineering. I am currently taking Introduction to Engineering Design and Pre-Calculus as a Sophmore at my high school.
In addition to swimming and academics, I have studied violin for over 11 years and play in the Duke String School Youth Symphony and am the Concert Master of my high school orchestra. This year I qualified for the Eastern Regional Orchestra where I will play alongside some of the best string players in North Carolina.
I am willing to put in the hard work to improve my times and am always up for a challenge. I always accept constructive feedback and do my best to incorporate the necessary changes needed to improve my skills.
