I’m Mara Trowbridge, I am 18 and a senior at Ronald W. Reagan High School in Pfafftown, NC. I started swimming the competitively the summer before my freshman year in hopes of making my high schools very strong swim team.
This is my 4th year competing with the women's 10/10 time conference championship team under head coach Ryan Michel. I have helped the team by racing the 500 and 200 free in conference the past three years, as well as our regional meet. In addition to swimming the regional meet, I also helped our women's 400 free relay my sophomore year at states, but due to illness was not able to race my junior year. Last year in conference I ended strong and received all-conference with my relay team, as well as individually placing 4th in my 200 free, and 5th in my 500 free. I was very excited to have contributed to my teams 10th consecutive winning season out of the 10 years the schools been open. I hope to finish strong with them this season as well!
Through the past three years I've also been on a few club teams. I started off at the Gateway YWCA where I swam under Alex Black and made huge strides to become a better swimmer. On this team I was also named a captain of the girls team. However due to financial situations, the team was closed down and I moved to another local team known as RipTYDE. Here I've been under the coaching of Cameron McKinney, who I have enjoyed swimming under the past two months or so.
Because I have not been swimming long, I feel that I have not even come close to achieving what I know I can. I want to swim at the collegiate level so I can be the best competitor possible, and have the opportunity to improve and be as fast as I can. I want a coach that can do this for me, as well as a school that fits my academic needs.
