I was a competitive swimmer for six years before I was introduced to the sport of triathlon. My original plan was to compete as a competitive swimmer in college, but that changed after my recruitment for Davis and Elkins College’s women’s triathlon program. Although I was trying a new sport in college, I was thrilled for the new adventure, and I was ready to challenge my athletic abilities. Preparing for a triathlon was different than any other training I have endured, I loved the challenges I faced with every practice and trained hard, not knowing how my first triathlon would go. It wasn’t until March of 2020 when I was able to race for the first time in Florida for Clermont’s legal draft race, this was when I realized what an incredible sport triathlon is and how hungry I was for the physical and mental challenges that came with the sport. Since March, I have raced five other times: each race improving my technical skills and my times for each sport. My new love for triathlon continues to grow as well as my goals for myself and my abilities to become the best triathlete I can be. My last race this year was DII Nationals in Arizona. I left this race with pure excitement as I saw how far I have come in a year and with even more enthusiasm to be back at Nationals in 2022, on the podium. My dedication and motivation has continued to impress my coaches, parents, family, friends, and teammates. For my future athletic career, I dream to be able to grow as a triathlete, as a person, and continue to study psychology and criminology. I want to graduate knowing that I accomplished all my athletic and personal goals while perusing my dreams.
