I am interested in pursuing a degree at a college where I can balance my swimming aspirations with my academic pursuits. I am interested in studying Science and parlaying my passion into education or medicine.
What sets me apart? It's my relentless pursuit of my goals and my incredible work ethic. I have a solid work ethic and approach all that I do with full effort, whether it is swimming, training, academics, or employment. My teachers and coaches have always remarked on my acute level of discipline, maturity, and focus. In fact, I was recognized by the coaches as a leader and a motivating force on the team and received the "Orange and Blue" award for the 2021-2022 season. I am often the last one out of the pool. During covid, when I was unable to swim (due to many shutdowns) I was undeterred; I shifted my focus to my dry land training to maintain my strength, cardio, and focus. In my family, we have a motto, "The way you do one thing is the way you do everything." I apply that mindset to everything I do.
I have a strong sense of family and commitment. I live in a two-generational household where I assist my aging grandparents in all manner of household chores and errands. My parents and grandparents have also instilled in me a strong sense of volunteerism and contributing to the community.
My inclusive nature and easygoing personality put others at ease which makes me an asset to any group or team. I am an ardent cheerleader for my teammates while remaining steadfast in the pursuit of my goals.
In the summer, I balance swimming practice and training with a full-time job working at a recreational paddle board and kayak rental business where I am responsible for managing the business, training new employees, and ensuring the safety of the guests as well as the day-to-day operations.
Furthermore, I just completed my first official half marathon, the Detroit Free Press Half-Marathon.
