Competitive athletics have been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember. I was a competitive gymnast from three to nine years old, then I transitioned into basketball in 4th grade. After 2 years, I was able to earn a spot on a travel national team where I played in some of the most competitive tournaments in the mid-Atlantic region for over three years. I also swam during the summers at our local club during this time just for fun, where I was introduced to the sport.
About a year and a half ago, I really started thinking about transitioning into competitive swimming as my primary sport. My summer league coaches were telling me I had real potential and I really had to take that into consideration. In eighth grade I played for the Freshman High School basketball team and went to as many swimming club practices as I could. At the end of basketball season, I attended a few swimming meets and my times really started to drop. By the end of eighth grade I had a very important decision to make.
After a very successful summer I decided to swim for Parkland High School as an incoming freshman. Since basketball and swimming are both winter sports in my area, I had to make a choice. I am very happy with the decision, as I had a great freshman season and swam for our varsity team in District 11 championships helping our team to our 10th straight district title. By the spring, I had qualified for JO's, Eastern Zones, and multiple cut times for Senior Championships.
I have always wanted to continue my sports and academic career into the NCAA and compete at the collegiate level. I am looking to swim In a competitive collegiate program with a school, coaching staff, and academics that challenge me day in and day out.
