I started both competitive swimming and triathlon when I was eight years old. Since I first started triathlon, I have aspired to go to the Olympics for triathlon. I see swimming, running, cycling and triathlon as lifetime sports and so I dedicate a significant part of my life to training, competition and helping others succeed in their sporting goals.
I currently compete in draft legal triathlon at a national level. In 2018, I placed 16th at junior nationals with my highest race finish of 11th in WI. I also compete in selected non drafting triathlons where in 2018 I came 1st or 2nd overall at all races and 5th at age group nationals, qualifying for Team USA in 2019. Swimming is a core sport for me; especially in the winter where I compete in High School, USA Swimming and YMCA meets. Naturally, triathlon also enables me to do well in running and cycling as secondary sports. My 5k XC PR is 19:19 and in the last several years I have won the USA Cycling PA State Championship time trial, criterion and road racing championships.
My main focus in swimming is distance events, where I have the skills and techniques to do well at collegiate level, including open water events. I am a natural team leader and I am the team captain of my high performance triathlon club and high school XC team.
I attend Conestoga High School, which consistently ranks in the top 20 nationally. In the classroom, all my classes are honors or AP. I study hard and maintain a high GPA. I also volunteer at several high school clubs as well as helping coach the younger children in the triathlon club and leading at the high school XC team.
I want to attend a college where I can excel academically and still pursue my interest in triathlon and its related sports. I am open geographically and hope to find the right school where I can achieve this balance. I am open to compete in triathlon, swimming or XC.
