Personal Statement
Swimming has always been a major part of my life. I started swim lessons by the age of 3 and started competitively swimming for my local YMCA team at 7 years old. I went to districts and states for YMCA swimming from the age 8-12. After this I switched to a USA swimming team and eventually started high school swimming. As a freshmen and sophomore I competed at WPIALS and States and placed at WPIALS.
I became interested in swimming just through family and friends being involved with it. I am glad I gave it a try and happy with my choice till this day. This sport has taught me a lot of things about myself. I have learned that I can't always rely on other people to push me and that I need to always have a good mindset or I will get nothing done. I also have noticed how much more positive I am then I ever was before since swimming is about racing the clock. I have definitely had to overcome many obstacles from where I am at today, athletically and academically. Some were harder than others but I accomplished them and way past them now.
