My name is Devin Javens, and I am currently a senior at Hickory High School in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. This is my fourth year on the high school swim team and my 12th year competitively swimming. I believe my swimming career has yet to reach its full potential. I travel one hour to and from swim practice six days a week, resulting in much time spent on the road. Because of this commute, my dryland training is limited, and I am unable to attend morning practices. When my club pool is unavailable for practice, I awake at 4:30 am to get my practice in before school. While doing this, I manage to maintain a 4.0 grade point average. Because of these nontraditional circumstances as well as my dedication to the sport, I truly believe that the best of my swimming career has yet to come. I am determined to put in as much work as possible to continue to better myself. Therefore, I am very excited to continue my swimming career at the collegiate level and see what I can accomplish in the years to come. My swimming goals include being a key contributor to a championship caliber college swim team and qualifying for the 2020 Olympic Trials.
