Personal Statement
Hello! My name is Paige Juliano and I am a rising junior. I have been swimming club for 10 years now and I truly enjoy the “process”! I work hard in everything I do, academically and in swim. I’m the first one in the water, and the last one out. I am a self-motivator and a team player. I’m the girl at the end of the lane, cheering on every single one of my teammates! Being a good teammate is so important because when everyone feels a part of the team, swimming just is better for everyone!! Practices can be grueling, but when you are among friends, it makes it that much better at the end of the morning/evening!!!
It is interesting the path that life can take you. This past year, my dad was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer. He always told me to do something that will never feel like work. I’m passionate about Environmental Sciences and Meteorology. I would love to find a school, a home, where I can pursue my career aspirations and fulfill my dream of swimming in college. I want to be able to tell my dad before he moves on to the afterlife that I am taking his advice and following my heart, and in the end I will make him proud.
Throughout my swim career and my academic career, I am the one people turn to for a good listening ear, honest advice, being helpful, and a true friend. I have found that I enjoy this role so much and would like to explore how I can used these skills in the next stages of my life! When my dad was at his worst, in the ICU, on a vent, unresponsive, I put my head down and swam. I never missed a practice. I maintained a 4.0 GPA. I earned a medal at state as a freshman. I earned all state and honorable mention all state honors, all while being there for my mom, my brother, and my grandparents. Our family and swim family bound together in the greatest time of despair, and what that taught me was I can do really, REALLY hard things and still be “ok”. Life is short. Enjoy every single moment every single day! Carpe diem!!!
