Swimming has always come naturally to me, so when my mother put me on a club swim team when I was 7, I fell in love with the sport. Once I got to high school, I had never experienced a team bond like my high school team. I love being a teammate and being supported by my friends. I want to continue to have that team experience and friendships in a sport I love.
My other activities include dance and theater. I have been dancing for 14 years and dance 6.5 hours a week, including Pointe, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Contemporary. I feel dance has helped my swimming skills. At school, I am also involved in Musical Theatre, influenced by my love for dance and creative outlet.
With a busy extracurricular schedule, I have been able to keep up with my academics. I have maintained a GPA of 5.7 on a 6.0 scale, or 3.9 on a 4.0 scale. I am 17th in my class out of 669 students. Academics is my #1 priority. In College, I plan on majoring in Graphic Design, and I am certified in Adobe Photoshop after taking classes these past 3 years.
My family has always been supportive of my endeavors, and I can’t help but thank God for my privilege and opportunities.
In 2021, I received District 6-6A Women’s Swimmer of the year award for my success at the meet. The next year, the Waxahachie High School Swim Team was district 6-6A champion! The 100 breaststroke has been a newer addition to my swim resume, and it is now my favorite!
It makes me sad at the thought of not having that team environment anymore. I have learned much about leadership, trusting one another, and perseverence. Hopefully, a college team will carry that on further into my life!
