Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Cassidy Carey and I am a junior at Sun Prairie High School in Wisconsin. Sun Prairie is a fast growing community located just on the outskirts of Madison, Wisconsin.
I have been swimming since I was six years old and fell in love with the sport as soon as I was introduced to it. I joined McFarland Spartan Sharks club team in 2015 and loved the way the coaches pushed me in and out of the pool. I learned that to get what I want, I need to put in the work.
Joining the Sun Prairie High School team in 2016 showed me a whole new atmosphere of the sport that differs from club season. It showed me how to adapt to a more sprint orientated season that took place in such a short of period of time. My coaches showed me how to be tough mentally at the bigger meets.
After going to nationals last year, I realized that I needed to put more work in outside of the pool. Since that time, I have started training with a personal trainer who has made me even stronger than what I was before. The strength I have gained has helped me overall and I have discovered that out of the pool training is something that I love.
Swimming has always been apart of my life and it has shaped me to be the person I am today. I have learned what time management is along with life long friendships from the sport. Swimming overall, has impacted my life in tremendous ways. I hope to find a college with a coach that is willing to push me to do my best and a school that can meet my academic needs of a major in psychology.
