I joined my current swim team when I was in 8th grade. Prior to this, I had no experience in swimming whatsoever. With being new to the sport, I had no idea of what to expect- including how much I would love the sport, as well as how committed I would become. I strive to work hard and push my teammates as well as myself; the stronger an individual is, the stronger the team. I have the sport to thank for some of my closet friendships and can also attribute swimming to teaching me many important life skills. Communication, mental toughness, perseverance and keeping a positive attitude are the most important skills I have gained thus far.
Not only do I work hard inside the pool, but also outside of the pool- physically and academically. I enjoy participating in triathlons and runs whenever I can. They are great for cross training and continue to push me mentally and physically. Academically, I work and study hard to manage top grades and a high GPA, taking challenging Honors and AP classes since my freshman year. If I ever come across a subject I do not understand, I always make sure to ask my peers and mentors for help. I don't give up, which is why many of my teammates describe me as dedicated and hardworking. Additionally, I also think it's important to give back and because I love this sport so much, I work as a swim lessons instructor, teaching young children how to swim!
College excites me. I would like to attend a school that will push me to be as best as I can possibly be in the pool and the classroom. I cannot wait to be a part of a college swim team!
