I can't seem to remember not swimming. My parents always told me, if where we live is surrounded by lakes and rivers, you are going to be an excellent swimmer. So, mommy and me", swim lessons started when I was 14 months old at our local rec center. My first experience in club swimming was when I was 5 years old with the Jackson Hole Stingrays. I started under the leadership of a knowledgeable and no-nonsense coach, resulting in a regimented swim environment which enabled me to approach my potential as a young swimmer. I ranked top 5 for 10 years in a row in the state of Wyoming. I built a friendly but highly competitive relationship with swimmers on opposing teams which not only created bonds but a healthy swim environment as well, eventually leading to Wyoming team involvement at regional and zone competitions. When I was 13, I swam and practiced with an out of state U,S.A. club team in Utah for two weeks. It was a rewarding to test myself in an unfamiliar pool with an unfamiliar coach. I was able to assimilate quickly to the pace and workout assignment and came away with a very empowering experience.
