My name is Charlotte Klein,I’m 18 years old and I come from Mellenthin - a very small seaside town of 300 people in the North of Germany, which is on the island of Usedom. My father put me into tennis at five years old, as I was painfully shy child and he thought it could help me build up my confidence. Sure enough, it did just that, but it also turned into my passion. By the age of 10 I was practicing 3-5 times a week, and was always hungry for more time on the court. By the age of 13 my local German coach said that I had researched my highest potential under his training and he could make the choice of being big fish in a small local pond, or push further with the new Coach outside of Usedom.
I decided to take the growth path and matured a lot as a person and player when I started splitting my time between school and Germany and tennis training in Poland, at the Angie Kerber Academy. It was here with Angie Kerber and the coaches at the academy that I saw firsthand what I would take to succeed, and it only motivated more, as I trained intensively five days a week and traveled weekly, while balancing this with school. Four years later, I still want to take it to the next level, which is why I came to the US to study at IMG with the dream of playing vasity tennis at an US college.
I think my Coaches would describe me as someone who works very hard both on and off the court. Every ball and shot counts for me, even when I’m in practice. Coming from a small town now attending IMG has required a lot of focus, commitment and more I play the more my desire develop as a player grows. I did my senior year in an American online school and go to GPA of 3.8. My overall high school GPA is 3.62 and I’m looking forward to study in the US via scholarship in January 2025.
