Hi College Coaches, my name is Reese! I am going to be graduating in 2026, and I am currently attending IMG academy, in Bradenton fl. I was born in New York but grew up in South Carolina and Costa Rica. My intended major is finance or economics.
When I was little and beginning my tennis career, I was ambidextrous. This means I used both my hands equally when playing. As I continued to play, some coaches would want me to use my right hand, and others wanted me to use my left. As a result, my game turned into me being a lefty with a right-handed serve. This might seem unorthodox however, it makes me a valuable player on court, especially in doubles. Since I can use both hands, it makes my next game significantly more lethal.
In addition, I take my academics very seriously, and I have since a young age. When I was in 5th grade, I was obsessed with Greek Mythology and Literature, but I didn’t have an outlet to learn more about it beyond reading Percy Jackson. One day I was talking to a high school teacher after school, and he mentioned that he taught a Mythology class. The only caveat was this class was only available to freshmen and older. Refusing to let age define my education, I went home that night and drafted a paper explaining why I should be able to take that class. The next day I walked into the principal's office and showed her what I had written the night before. Before I knew it, I was a 5th grader taking a mythology class and literature class for highschoolers.
My family and I like to refer to myself as an extracurricular warrior. If you find the activities section on my profile, you’ll see what I mean. My core value is community and being there for people. An example of this is, one time during sophomore year, my Jewish friend wanted to go to the Jewish club, but she did not want to go by herself. October 8th had just occurred in Israel, and I wanted to learn more. Initially, the plan was for me to go to the first meeting, and then be done. Turns out, I enjoyed learning about the Jewish Culture, so I stuck around.
I said I was an extracurricular warrior, but I like to think I’m a warrior in everything. I am driven and competitive on the court. In the classroom, I am always striving for that A. Hopefully, I can continue to expand my horizons and be a warrior at your university as well.
