My name is Clare Di Santo, and I am a sixteen-year-old rising junior with a profound passion for tennis. I am the oldest child in my family and have grown up playing many sports with my younger brother. We continue to play tennis together to this day. Since picking up my first racquet at the age of ten, tennis has been my favorite sport and has been a significant part of my personal growth and development. I have been playing tennis tournaments since age eleven, along with other school and club sports, and have learned many things about myself on and off the court, as an individual player and as part of a team.
In my high school tennis career, I have competed in numerous matches as the number one undefeated singles player on JV1 during my freshmen year. I was undefeated for 34 matches. I worked hard in the off season of my freshmen year, training for tournaments and spring try-outs. I achieved my goal of making the varsity team during my sophomore year. I was the number two and three doubles on varsity and won first place for conference as third doubles. These experiences have instilled in me a strong sense of discipline, resilience, teamwork, and strategic thinking, which I apply both on and off the court.
On the court, I am known for my aggressive baseline play and powerful serve. I lead by example and I am a strong team player. My dedication to improving my skills is unwavering: I train rigorously year round and continuously seek to refine my technique, form, fitness and tactical knowledge by participating in club tennis and summer camps during the off season. This commitment to excellence ensures that I am always prepared to perform at my best, regardless of the circumstances.
Academically, I study hard and maintain a strong GPA of 4.0 while balancing a demanding training schedule. I work hard to achieve balance between my academic and extracurricular activities to be successful in both. Beyond tennis, I am actively involved in a variety of extracurricular activities, including school clubs, playing piano, teaching tennis at my local community center, babysitting, and working at a donut shop for my summer job. These diverse experiences have not only helped me to develop valuable time management and leadership skills, but also reinforced the importance of teamwork and community involvement.
I want to attend a college or university where I can be successful in the classroom and on the tennis court. I am very excited about the opportunity to join a collegiate tennis team where I can further develop my skills and contribute to the team’s success. I am eager to learn from experienced coaches, collaborate with talented teammates, and represent my school with pride and dedication, while making my parents proud. I am very excited to continue my tennis journey.
Thank you for considering me for a position on your tennis team. I look forward to contributing to your program and continuing my growth as a student-athlete.
Sincerely,
Clare Di Santo
