I did not start playing competitive tennis until 7th grade. I remember my first USTA tournament very clearly. I had to play the number one seed first round and I lost horribly. I walked off the court completely devastated, but at the same time, this match is what inspired me to improve. This is when I began to fall in the love with the game of tennis. I told my parents I was really interested in advancing my tennis game, and they supported me hundred percent.
At the end of my sophomore year of high school, I was pretty set on playing a sport in college.I began training, playing more tournaments, and worked on the mental parts of the game as well. I went from playing three singles my sophomore year to playing one singles my junior year. This was a huge accomplishment for me because I could really see my hard work pay off.
Hard work is like a reflex for me. I have always been a hard worker in everything that I do. I apply it to sports, school, and just my entire life in general. I also try to push others to strive for their best. At team practices, I often challenge the other girls. For that effort, I have been selected as one of the captains of my high school tennis team and am looking forward to tremendous senior year of tennis. I absolutely love the competition and challenges that tennis brings about.
