Maykayla Ramos '22 Recruiting Profile

Tennis has always and will forever be my passion. My goal is to pursue tennis on a college team and study kinesiology and exercise science to the best of my abilities. I  dream to one-day become a professional player, a coach, and a mentor in order to give others a better chance to pursue their dreams and to give back to my community. 

Growing up in the Virgin Islands posed many difficulties making it hard to pursue tennis because it is not a popular youth sport nor is it financially easy. We lack teams, coaches, and equipment, but through determination and the support of my parents I was able to persevere. 

Despite the challenges and financial hardships, I was able to become junior ambassador of the Virgin Islands and also a junior guest player in Junior Team Puerto Rico. Academics always come first and I make sure to maintain high grades in order to pursue my love for tennis. I can't wait to see where my experiences in college will take me and I am excited to continue growing as a tennis player.
