Let me start with how I began track. I wanted to run track for a long time, before high school. My mom, was worried I would have knee issues when I got older and veered me into other sports, gymnastics and cheerleading, but inside my heart, track was always my passion. As a sophomore, things changed because I was committed and my mom's mind changed. I began track during the time Covid school restrictions for sports was lifted. The amount of meets were less than standard. I ran two 200 hundred yard dashes. The first, I fell flat on my face literally in an instant and knocked myself out for 6 seconds. I got up, said I was okay. Got examined and benched for the next two competitions. Some people understood if I quit because of the fall, but when I was cleared to run which was the last race of the season, I believed in myself and my goal which was to win no matter what and I came in FIRST PLACE! It was then I knew I was destined for track success and with the right coaching, I could be great.
My junior year I got new PR's and built my speed up faster in each meet that I went too. My coach initiated me in field events, long jump and high jump, I did whatever was asked of me until another student was injured in relay and I was placed as anchor to fill the spot. That's when he realized I was fast and had potential and kept me in only running events where I really wanted to be. Running the 100, 200, 4x1, and 4x4.
Being put in the 4x1 as the anchor was a great opportunity for me, considering we qualified for State with the fastest girls in our small town. It was a huge deal to send people off to State and I felt so confident in myself for getting there. Even though we did not win being there and witnessing faster girls and times. Made me want to keep pushing and get better and become as fast as them. Taking my loss and making it a victory. I decided to train hard for senior year. Staying in Texas for the summer to do so. My mom encouraged me and is my greatest support and fan. I joined TCU training camp out in FortWorth Texas. Where I met incredible coaches. And was able to gain understanding that I needed to became better. I also signed up for a gym membership and talked with one of the personal trainers who Is now currently helping me to weight lift and build me as a stronger athlete. I am also currently training with Jordan Andrade who was a Olympic Silver medalist in the event 400 meter hurdles. I've made it my goal by the end of Senior year to place in State and beat the school record in the women's 200 time at Payson High school and compete in 400 yard dash along with the 4x4.
I am an inspired motivated teen that has considered my goals, possibilities and future in a university since I was in junior high school. In high school I have narrowed down the path I would like to take in my college journey, be great in track by doing my best and pushing and challenging myself to go harder and further. Be a good team support player and a classy example of an athlete and academic student representing my school.
I would like to take my achievements with college and move into the direction of law school to become a corporate attorney to someday have my own firm or be a partner in a reputable long standing successful firm in the country.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me and look forward to having a conversation with you someday. Make it a great day!
