Alana Curtis '20 Recruiting Profile

I have been a part of my schools cross country and track teams since I was in 6th grade. Heading into the Freshman cross country season I ended up with a stress fracture in my foot and was out the entirety of cross country and most of track season. During that time I continued to show up to practice and help my dad coach the team and cheer on both the high school and middle school teams. During that track season I continued working on my shot put and discus but at the same time, I coached the middle school athletes and other high school athletes on my team to help them get further distances in shot and disc. From freshman year through the beginning of junior year I was in a cycle of injuries, but that never stopped me from being a team player and always being there for my team. Now I am going into senior year as not only an uninjured, stronger athlete but also a mentor and coach to so many of the younger athletes that I have had the opportunity to watch grow through the years. As I enter my senior year going into these last two seasons of cross country and track, I will continue to coach and mentor my teammates but also be the best athlete I can be.
