My name is Jocelyn Farland, I think that running for me became more than pastime; it became to be a passion that has shaped my character and ambition. I started my cross country season my freshman year thinking that I was going to better myself for the upcoming track season, quickly realizing that this sport took determination, and it provided me a sanctuary where I could escape from the pressures of everyday life. I knew that when each stride I took against pavements, in weather that made me sick, that I was teaching myself the value of discipline, perseverance, and the importance of setting goals. I found balance that was required to thrive academically while still loving my sport, my commitment ensures that my studies remain at the forefront while still making time for practice and competition. I started to embrace the late night spent studying, knowing that each sacrifice would bring me closer to my collegiate aspirations. My dedication to the sport is matched only by my commitment to achieving my academic goals, particularly my aspirations to pursue a degree in physical therapy. I have positioned myself to become a strong candidate for a collegiate running team, I have been actively working on my skills and performance, consistently seeking feedback from my coaches and peers, using their insights to better myself and focus on my personal best. So, I would like to say that my journey as a runner has been filled with challenges and triumphs that have prepared me for this next step in my academic and athletic career.
