My name is Lindsay Berg and I am a junior at San Dieguito Academy in San Diego, California. For most of my life, I could never understand why someone would devote their time and energy to doing another sport's punishment. However, when I decided to join track and field my freshman year, I fell in love with the sport. We had one dual meet before the season was sadly cut short due to COVID, but during this time I proved myself willing and able to put in the hard work to improve so after placing 2nd (1:07) in my first ever 400m race, I was quickly moved up to varsity. Since then I have remained on the varsity team and was able to get a full season during my sophomore year. I made it to leagues for 3 events, became the women's 400m avocado league champion (2021), went to CIF San Diego Section to compete in 2 events, and earned a Mustang Scholar award. I have become obsessed with this sport and I can't wait for what it brings next. In order to reach my goals I have taken the initiative to push myself even harder and do cross country as a way to train in the off season. I like to help people and enjoy pushing others to do their best. Many know me for my optimism and sportsmanship by showing encouragement during races and cheering on my teammates as well as their competitors. I was a Girl Scout for 7 years and have completed over 100 hours of community service in this organization alone, I have also started a Pen Pals club at my school, I was a member of an Animal Care club, and I have built houses in Mexico through Casas De Luz. While accomplishing all of this I have also had to overcome many obstacles in my personal life and maintain a high GPA and I believe that this has made me a much stronger individual. I would love to continue competing in track in college where I can not only be athletically challenged but also academically. I am looking for a school that can offer new and exciting experiences as well as encourage me to grow and improve on and off the track.
